about us

Our initial aim was to produce the most robust Inspection System possible...

.....and we have achieved that aim with the Troglotech T804 ‘Trogloprobe’ system. Our list of design criteria was: Safety First - Never use a mains lead on site due to trip hazard and high voltages - we utilised advanced battery technology Simple operation - No fancy on-screen menus - we have used one-touch record, one-touch play, simple ON/OFF switch Keep working in all weather conditions - We designed all products to be waterproof to at least IP67, cameras to IP68 Robust construction - We don’t use formed-metal enclosures or bendy plastic - ours are machined from solid materials A full days work - The system must operate all day without a recharge - work all day, recharge over-night, ready for another day A full service life - All the products must keep working for many years - 10 years later the very first systems and cameras are still in use Simple servicing - The major assemblies simply clip to the powder-coated frame - no soldering required Must be reliable - we design everything for reliability - including our software - no Windows or Linux operating systems Upgrade path - The Trogloprobe supports the T812 Pan & Tilt camera, T710 one-inch camera and future Mini-Mainline System The list above has been our design criteria for all our products, right from the first camera to those currently being designed. We realise that there are cheaper ways of making products, but our 30 years in this business have given us fair warning that cheaper is always less reliable. We design everything in-house at Troglotech, we also build and test everything here so that we have full control of quality. We are glad to report that this philosophy means that the very first cameras and systems are still operating in the harshest environments ten years later. That includes the Hire Market where systems must be robust, simple to use and must survive a good beating from first-time operators. We have not ‘obsoleted’ any of our products and produce accessories and spare parts for everything we have introduced to the market, we realise how unfair and destructive obsolescence is. We are constantly developing new products that are compatible with the T804 pushrod system. The first addition to the T804 was a 1" (25mm) camera on 20M of highly flexible rod, this camera is utilising the latest in sensor technology to provide a picture of a quality only seen in larger cameras. Following the one-inch camera was the world's first Pan and Tilt camera with 'Human Perspective View', the T812. Our aim is to continue expanding the product range, with each new product being compatible with the T804 system. Each new product will enhance the abilities of the base system to a point where the T804 can operate in areas that only the more expensive mainline systems currently occupy. This is all to be achieved using our philosophy of utilising efficient and silent power cell technology. This provides safe and reliable service with minimal impact to the environment and exceptionally low operating costs. Troglotech was started in 2004 by Dave Cotton and Tim Meek, both previously at Pearpoint Ltd from the days of the first Monochrome Flexiprobe Unit right up to the design and manufacture of the worlds first Intrinsically-Safe camera system. We were both involved in each of the great changes in Inspection systems, the first solid-state CCD camera sensors, introduction of reliable surface-mount technology, the first LCD displays, we introduced CMOS sensor technology - but, more importantly, we learnt more from the designs that didn’t survive our industry! When Pearpoint was acquired by SPX we started Troglotech.
